About Phil
Born in Elkhart Indiana, April first, 1938, Phil now resides in Sarasota, Florida.
At an early age, Phil began to draw and color displaying better than average talent. Throughout school Phil was advanced beyond other students in his class. Oil painting lessons were given to him at the age of ten and he started a college art class at fifteen.
As a result of winning first place and other awards in both state and local competition, he was given a one man show while a senior in high school. Selling paintings and other artwork in his teens was a source of income for him. Also, Phil worked as an apprentice for an Interior Designer while in and after high school.
After studying fine arts at Ball State University for two years, Phil transferred to Kendall School of Design and was trained as an interior designer.
Interior design was Phil’s initial career. Eventually he went to work as a designer and salesman at a furniture store. Because he was good at sales, a promotion to sales manager resulted. Additional promotions elevated him to store manager before.
During the years of working for a living, Phil had continued producing art for personal enjoyment. Some, he sold at art shows and some in galleries. Most of his art has been sold until the 2023 when he began retaining the originals and selling prints.
Moving to Florida after he retired, Phil lives near Siesta Key Beach. He strolls the beaches, sketches and photographs subject matter for beach and ocean scenes that include wildlife and people. The large group of beach lovers buy his paintings and prints.
